Have you heard of craftsy.com? It’s an online community of
crafters and their projects and you can enroll in online classes and get
supplies. I optimistically enrolled in their 2012 Block of the Month class. I’m
no expert quilter and haven’t really done any quilting since before my marriage
ended, but I felt like I would like to get back into it and have a creative
outlet for myself. Not sure when I’m going to fit it in. Craftsy does offer the
fabric package for the online class, but I didn’t really like their fabric
selections, so ordered my own on eBay. EBay has some pretty good fabric deals.
I’m just waiting for the background fabric to arrive, plus some quilting rulers
that I ordered. Then I can get started. Hate to say it, but I’m more excited
about my quilting class than I am about my professional courses. The good thing about Craftsy
classes is that you can take them at your own pace. And once you’ve enrolled in
the course, you have unlimited access to it, so you can review any lessons you
want for future reference. I have a profile on Craftsy and you can see a
couple of my afghans there: one I made for my living room and one I made for my
grandson. Purple Cat is my user name.
Currently, I’ve got about 5 (or maybe more???)
crocheting projects on the go. I really need to discipline myself to finish
one before I start another... But sometimes I get bored with one. If and when I finish them, I will post more pictures to my Craftsy profile.
